Description
The ‘CASTLE’ Playing Cards Expanded RULES
The King of Idleland has died. Who wants to be the successor, King Idle II ?
There are a number of levels you can play, but these rules are for the EASY
version rules for 2-5 players. If 6-10 people, play two decks of cards.
There are 72 cards in the deck. The deck is divided into the 4 Territory’s,
Royalshire, Castledom, Smithbria, and Archester. There are 13 cards in each
Territory being, an ESTATE, a LADY or LORD, a BISHOP, and GUARDS. Three
Craftsman cards, a BLACKSMITH, a STONEMASON, and a CARPENTER. Three
Material cards, a METALS, a STONES and a WOOD card, and three Structure
cards, a GATEHOUSE, the WALLS and a TOWER.
And, there are 20 Event cards, including three Wild cards, a CHARTER, the
BUILDING, and a JOURNEYMAN, which affect everyone, just one player, or can be
used in various ways to help or hinder your attempts to build your “CASTLE”.
__ WINNING PLAY ______________________________________________
The object of the game is to be the first player to build a ‘Castle’. This consists
of an ESTATE card, a Ruler card which is either the LORD or LADY, and, the three
Structures of the Castle, GATEHOUSE, WALLS, and TOWER cards which must be built. Though,
you cannot declare ‘Castle!’ for one round after the DRAGON attack. And, as
will be explained in the cards section, you will need Material cards and
Craftsman cards to be able to build, protect or rebuild each Structure of the “Castle”,
before revealing your last or all your cards and declaring, … “Castle”!.
That’s the basics, there are however, are few more rules to consider.
__ SET UP OF PLAY ______________________________________________
Shuffle the deck and each player selects one card. The player with the highest
card reshuffles the deck and deals out 7 cards to each player, with one face up
in the middle. This is the Discard pile. No FAMINE, TRADERS, or
DRAGON in the first hand, so return them, pick new cards and reshuffle. The remainder
of the pack is placed beside the middle card, but face down. This is the Pickup
pile. Now, the player with the second highest card goes first, by selecting a
card from the pickup pile, and choosing to play any card in their hand, or not.
But, you only get one chance to play one card per turn, whether forced or not.
You cannot select a card from the discard pile unless you have the correct
Event cards. Each player goes in turn picking up and playing a card, or not,
rotating clockwise, and if the pickup pile is depleted then reshuffle the discard
pile and continue.
SIMPLE TO LEARN. EASY TO PLAY. LOTS OF HYSTERICAL FUN.
… whoops … Historical Fun, as well.
